CrossFit Regain

  • What Is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a constantly varied strength and conditioning program designed to maximise health and fitness using a combination of gymnastics, weightlifting and other functional movements executed at an intensity that ensures positive results, whilst keeping workouts challenging and fun.

  • Why CrossFit Regain?

Firstly, the name…… the ‘Regain’ is a technique employed by The Royal Marines to get back on top of a rope after falling to a dead hang beneath it. Since Matt [Robbo] Robinson – Head Trainer and Co-owner of CrossFit Regain, is a former Royal Marine, we just kind of liked the name!!!
At CrossFit Regain you will get expert coaching to ensure you are getting the most out of CrossFit. As a qualified Sports Therapist, Matt is passionate about movement quality and ensuring members are training in a safe and effective manner. We also encourage a strong community feel here and have regular social functions and get togethers.

  • What is different about CrossFit training?

Members will learn new skills and how to move correctly in every exercise, from a press-up to Olympic lifts. We coach our members how to do everything from scratch to ensure that you are moving correctly and getting the full benefit from your efforts. All sessions are structured and programmed to achieve constant improvement and progression at a pace that is appropriate to you. At CrossFit Regain, you will never be more than a few feet away from a trainer who will keep you on track by both motivating you and correcting you if needed.

  • What is WOD?

WOD is an acronym for Workout Of the Day. Every day is different and when you walk in the gym, the WOD will be up on the board. Every class that day will do the same workout and your scores recorded to keep track of your progression, improvements and of course Personal Bests!

  • What classes do you run?

Please head over to our Classes page for a complete list of the different classes we run at CrossFit Regain, plus descriptions about each class. You will also find our Class Timetable.

  • Do you run ladies-only classes?

We don’t currently run Ladies only classes. The reason being that we pride ourselves on being inclusive. We encourage a friendly atmosphere in the gym and as such we have found that we generally have more ladies than men in most classes. There are a broad range of ages and abilities who train at CrossFit Regain.

  • What facilities and equipment are available?

Our gym is based around Olympic lifting, gymnastics and other functional movements, and as such, equipment is minimal. We don’t use machines as they can encourage poor form and put unnecessary forces through joints. We have Olympic barbells with over 800kg of plates, pull-up bars, gymnastic rings, climbing ropes, kettle bells, plus lots of space inside and out.

  • Are children welcome?

Unlike large commercial gyms, we base ourselves around a small community of members. As such, we encourage members to bring their kids down to get involved.  ‘CrossFit Kids’ classes run every Saturday morning and Crossfit Teens classes are held on Wednesday afternoons after school.
